All trails are reported to be in good condition and the weather this weekend looks fantastic for riding, so get up here and enjoy Voyageur Country!
Orr area: Trails are groomed & in good condition. Crane Lake/Buyck area: Both groomers running 3-4 nights, and all the trails are good. Kabetogama/Ash River area: All trails are nicely groomed and ready to ride. Logging continues on the north Tone Dawg and 3K trails. International Falls area: Trails groomed and ready to enjoy. If you're on the north end of the Arrowhead on Saturday 2/11, IVSC is hosting a Hotdog Roast 11am-2pm at the corner of Hagerman & Arrowhead Trails. In Voyageurs National Park: You will find smoother riding on staked trails. Portages are groomed with the exception of the blue and purple trail; crews are working on improving the land based portages. Please be aware of your surroundings and pay attention to all trail signage. Green trail is open and groomed all the way from Rainy Lake visitor center through Black Bay to Kabetogama Lake to Ash River to Crane Lake. Also open and groomed: Chain of Lakes (dashed black) and Ash River to Kettle Falls (yellow) trails. Open, not groomed: International Falls to Kettle Falls (purple), and East Namakan Lake to Sand Point Lake (blue) Trails. The park has also opened the Rainy Lake ice road to Black Bay ski & snowshoe trailhead, and the Kabetogama Lake ice road to the Sphunge Sledding Hill. Check their website for further updates. Arrowhead State Trail / DNR update: Reminder that No motorized vehicles other than snowmobiles are allowed on State Trails or Grant-in-Aid snowmobile trails. The Arrowhead is groomed and in good condition. The last bit of ungroomed swamp north of Ban Lake was groomed earlier this week. Any other especially caution-worthy spots are flagged or signed as needed. 250 riders from the Black Woods Blizzard Tour will be out on the trails for the next three days, 3 routes per day witn multiple groups running at various paces. Thursday - Carlton to Tower; Friday - Tower to Grand Rapids; Saturday - Grand Rapids back to Carlton. All leads and sweeps will be wearing hi-vis vests.
